A postman from Tamil Nadu is being hailed as a hero for his dedicated service. D Sivan who retired last week is being widely praised on social media for walking through dense forests to deliver letters.
Sivan used to deliver mails and pension in remote settlements in the forests near Singara and Marapallam. He used to trek 15 kilometres from the Hillgrove Post Office near Coonoor. On his journeys to the homes in remote areas, Sivan encounters elephants, bears and several other wild animals. However, this did not stop him from doing his duty.
After Sivan's retirement, IAS officer Supriya Sahu tweeted his picture and shared about his dedication towards his work.
"Postman D. Sivan walked 15 kms everyday through thick forests to deliver mail in inaccessible areas in Coonoor. Chased by wild elephants, bears, gaurs, crossing slippery streams&waterfalls he did his duty with utmost dedication for 30 years till he retired last week," IAS officer Supriya Sahu tweeted.
