ஊதிய உயர்வு உள்ளிட்ட பல்வேறு கோரிக்கைகளை வலியுறுத்தி இந்தியா முழுவதும் வங்கி ஊழியர்கள் நேற்று வேலைநிறுத்த போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபட்டனர். இதனால் வங்கி சேவை பாதிக்கப்பட்டது.

வங்கி ஊழியர்களுக்கு புதிய ஊதிய ஒப்பந்தத்தை ஏற்படுத்த வேண்டும், புதிய ஓய்வூதிய திட்டத்தை கைவிடவேண்டும், வாரத்துக்கு 5 நாட்கள் பணி நிர்ணயிக்க வேண்டும் என்பன உள்ளிட்ட பல்வேறு கோரிக்கைகளை வலியுறுத்தி வங்கி ஊழியர்கள் பல்வேறு போராட்டங்களை நடத்தி வருகின்றனர்.

இந்நிலையில் அகில இந்திய வங்கி ஊழியர்கள் சங்கம், அகில இந்திய வங்கி அதிகாரிகள் சங்கம், அகில இந்திய வங்கி அதிகாரிகள் கூட்டமைப்பு உட்பட 9 சங்கங்களை உள்ளடக்கிய தொழிற்சங்கங்களின் கூட்டமைப்பு இந்தியா முழுவதும் வேலை நிறுத்தப் போராட்டத்தை அறி வித்தது.

இதையடுத்து கூட்டமைப்பைச் சேர்ந்த நிர்வாகிகளுடன் மத்திய அரசு நடத்திய பேச்சுவார்த்தை தோல்வியில் முடிந்தது. ஜனவரி 31மற்றும் பிப். 1 ஆகிய தேதிகளில் இந்தியா முழுவதும் வேலைநிறுத்த போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபடப்போவதாக கூட்டமைப்பு அறிவித்தது.

அதன்படி, தமிழகம் உட்பட நாடுமுழுவதும் வங்கி ஊழியர்கள் நேற்று வேலைநிறுத்தப் போராட்டத்தை தொடங்கினர். தேசியமயமாக்கப்பட்ட வங்கிகள் மூடப்பட்டதால், பணம் எடுப்பது, பணம் செலுத்துவது, காசோலை பரிமாற்றம், வங்கி பாஸ் புக் பதிவு போன்றபல்வேறு சேவைகள் பாதிக்கப்பட்டன.

31 லட்சம் காசோலைகள் தேக்கம்..

இதற்கு மத்திய அரசும், வங்கி நிர்வாகமும்தான் பொறுப்பேற்க வேண்டும். தமிழகத்தில் மட்டும் ரூ.7 ஆயிரம் கோடி மதிப்பிலான 9 லட்சம் காசோலைகள் உட்பட நாடுமுழுவதும் ரூ.23 ஆயிரம் கோடி மதிப்பிலான 31 லட்சம் காசோலைகள் தேக்கம் அடைந்துள்ளன. தமிழகத்தில் மட்டும் 16 ஆயிரம் வங்கிக் கிளைகள் மூடப்பட்டுள்ளன. எங்களுடைய கோரிக்கைகளை நிறைவேற்றாவிட்டால், மார்ச் 11 முதல் 13-ம் தேதி வரை வேலை நிறுத்தம் திட்டமிட்டப்படி நடைபெறும்” என்றார்.

India thanks China for aiding evacuation of citizens from coronavirus-hit Wuhan!!!

Indian Embassy in Beijing expressed its gratitude to China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and local authorities in Hubei province and Wuhan for assisting the evacuation of Indian nationals from the epicentre of Coronavirus outbreak. Vikram Misri, the Indian Ambassador to Beijing, said that he was relieved on the safe return of Indian citizens from Wuhan.

Air India flight carrying 324 Indian nationals, majority of who were students, from coronavirus-hit Wuhan landed in New Delhi on February 1. Indians who arrived at the Delhi airport will be taken to an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) camp where they will be kept in isolation for 14 days under medical observation. Currently, the doctors are conducting coronavirus screening at the airport all the 324 Indian airports.

Another Air India flight is prepared to take off for Wuhan to evacuate remaining citizens who gave their consent to leave Hubei Province for the time being. Indian Embassy in Beijing urged all Indian nationals living in Hubei province to contact the embassy through hotlines if they intend to avail the next flight.

Global health emergency

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has now declared the new coronavirus outbreak as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). After the second meeting of the International Health Regulations (2005) Emergency Committee regarding the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, the committee acknowledged that human-to-human transmission has occurred outside Wuhan and outside China. 

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus congratulated the Chinese government for the ‘extraordinary measures’ it took to contain the virus, despite the severe social and economic impact those measures are having on the Chinese people. “We don’t know what sort of damage this coronavirus could do if it were to spread in a country with a weaker health system. We must act now to help countries prepare for that possibility," said Ghebreyesus during the press conference after the meeting.

The Economic Survey 2020 forecast India's GDP growth to be in the range of 6 percent to 6.5 percent in the fiscal year 2020-21. The survey tabled in the Upper House on Friday believes the next fiscal is expected to pose challenges on the fiscal front.

The Indian economic growth is expected to pick up in the second half of FY20 and a strong rebound could be seen in FY21 on a low base, according to the document.

First advance estimates released by the Central Statistics Ministry in early January estimated India's GDP growth during fiscal 2019-20 at 5 percent as compared to 6.8 percent in the year-ago period.

Annual economic growth slowed to 4.5 perecent in the July-September quarter, the weakest pace since 2013, owing to weakening demand and private investment.

Slowing growth has put pressure on the government to expedite reforms. The government could announce in the Budget 2020 tax concessions for individuals and increase spending on infrastructure after cutting corporate tax rates last year.

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget for the fiscal year 2020-21 on February 1.
